DENOSYL is a dietary supplement with the specific nutritional purpose of enhancing liver function in case of liver failure in dogs or cats.

COATED TABLETS

The S-Adenosyl methionine (SAME) is involved in the formation of glutathione that assists the detoxification of various components by making them more soluble and excretable.

Glutathione is the most important liver detoxifying agent as it is a powerful natural antioxidant. When the liver function is not normal, the natural production of SAME is decreased, resulting in decreased levels of glutathione.

DENOSYL also helps to stabilize the membranes of liver cells and facilitates the process of detoxification of bile acids.

In dogs with chronic liver disease, and reactive liver disorders due to substances that may damage the liver (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, corticosteroids, anticonvulsants, treatment for Leishmania).

In dogs and cats with liver function compromised by poisoning, or suspected to be affected by other reasons.

For optimal absorption, it is preferable to administer the tablets on an empty stomach, at least one hour before meals and preferably in the morning. If the administration proves to be difficult, DENOSYL can be mixed with the usual food of the animal. To make the intake of the tablet easier, we recommend the owners of cats to give the animal a small amount of water after taking DENOSYL.

A gastroresistant coating has been applied to the tablets, so they should not be dissolved or broken before being administered. If several tablets must be administered per day, it is recommended to administer them in two doses, one in the morning and the other at night.

Daily doses of DENOSYL should be administered as follows:

Cat and dog up to 11 kg DENOSYL 90 mg

Up to 5 kg 1 tablet

5 to 11 kg 2 tablets

Dog over 11 kg DENOSYL 225 mg

11 to 16 kg 1 tablet

16 to 30 kg 2 tablets

30 to 41 kg 3 tablets

Over 41 kg 4 tablet

The period of administration can vary from short periods to prolonged use of the product, depending on the pathology of the patient and the improvement after the administration of DENOSYL. It is highly recommended to periodically assess changes in serum values of liver enzymes to check the patient’s evolution.

In general, the product may be administered during 1 to 4 months, but this period may be longer in the case of animals with chronic liver problems. In these cases, the animal's response should be monitored during the administration of the standard dosage, and in case of positive response a mantenance dose can be introduced indefinitely, which must be administered on alternate days.
