Chronic and/or recurrent diarrhoea are frustrating cases for the veterinarian, the sick pet and its family. Establishing the aetiology of chronic diarrhoea and implementing a proper treatment plan can be challenging due to the multiple digestive, absorption and immune properties performed by the bowel.
Although standard therapies have been shown to be very useful in some cases, most do not provide a permanent remission of symptoms, and administered in the long term could cause side effects.
